Don't ever go hiking without tweezers

I got out to explore the eastern section of the Superstition Ridge trail yesterday. The hike was meant to go to peak 5057, which is about 3000' elevation gain from trail head in about 4.5 miles. I got a bit off trail and had to shove through a lot of brush early on, though, so I made it only to West Boulder Canyon. This area is brand new to me in the Superstitions and I am looking forward to getting back out there to hike around there some more. On the way back, I managed to get off trail again (both times were in easy sections, I guess I was just spacing out). On one rather steep area, I managed to slip slightly and my hand landed on a couple of jumping cholla spine balls. Think pin cushion with the pins having a bunch of microscopic spiked barbs. I couldn't grab this little ball of joy to pull it free, so I managed to sit down and with my other hand get my tweezers out. I wasn't sure if they would work and I was wishing that I had put some pliers in my kit. I had to pry the 2 spined balls out of my hand, which didn't feel too great. I then I had a number of the spines left to pull out one at a time. With the barbs, they hurt worse coming out than going in. I would have been really hosed without those tweezers. I should have gotten a picture of my hand in that situation, but at the time I was more concerned with if I could remove it from my hand.
