Reading a lot lately

Since around the first of the year, I have been reading a lot of books. I started out with the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. After reading the first 5 books of the series, it got very repetitive, so I stopped with it. I then moved on to the Belgariad series by David Eddings. I am on the final book of 5 in that one now. They were much shorter books, but I don’t find them to be overly good. I am probably going to move on to The Icewind Dale trilogy next. I’ve also picked up the pace of hiking a bit. I have scheduled another Grand Canyon hike for May, so I need to get used to longer distance hikes for that. I’ve also planned out a number of other trips for this summer. Perhaps D.C. area, Grand Canyon, San Jose, Denver, and maybe a Mt Whitney hike.

New Year

I put together a little new years BBQ and Game Day at my place on the first. Food prep and all went pretty smoothly. Although I came down sick with a cold and completely ruined my throat by talking the whole day. I should note that I bought 28 pounds of pork for 24 people. It made a ton of food, I had about 1/4 of it left at the end of the day. So I’ve been semi-sick for the past week I guess. I started reading Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth books. I got through the first one (Wizard’s First Rule) and found it to be pretty good. I started on the second one yesterday. I think I’ll read through some more today, but I’m actually feeling kind of burned out on it, as I’ve been reading almost continually the past 2 days. I had to cancel other plans I made over the weekend due to being sick as well.
