Woods Canyon Lake

Played a couple of games of Duel of Ages tonight with guys from work. It was a good bit of fun. My expansions for it should be coming within the next week days. I also ordered a new game called Battlelore. It looks pretty fun. I have been playing it online with Vassal for the past week as well as some other games. Those games systems work really well. Lea and I drove up to Woods Canyon Lake (about 30 miles northeast of Payson) for a hike this past weekend. We walked along the creekside for awhile. It was a very beautiful place to go.

Pinnacle Peak Patio

Just hung out this weekend. Played a couple of games of Duel of Ages with Lea. Its a pretty fun game, I'll probably get the expansions for it soon. Hopefully people will still be playing it after that. :) Also went to Pinnacle Peak Patio up in Scottsdale. Its an old western style steak house. It was a pretty fun atmosphere there and not that expensive.

Heroscape Game Night

Tonight is another Heroscape game night at my place. I think we'll have 5-6 people there for another round on the elven ruins map and scenario I made up. I played some Carcassonne online last afternoon with Pat, he was on aim by accident it would appear for the first time in about 4 years.

Duel of Ages

Got a new board game called Duel of Ages. I played it with Eddie last night, it was a pretty fun game. They have some expansions that I will probably pick up for it as well.

Camping in White Mountains

The camping trip this weekend was fun. We got to the Lakeside Campground in Lakeside, AZ about 5:15pm and it was not very good. It was in the middle of a town with houses right behind. I drove on to another campground that was not too far away. It was called Los Burros Campground. It was a really nice place to stay. There were 12 sites there and no facilities other than a pit toilet. There were very few other people at the site and I didn't actually hear anyone else for the most part. A trail left right from the campground into a quite a large network of trails that are in that area. We hiked about an 8 mile loop through nice woods and meadows on Saturday. The weather was very nice for our hike. I cooked a number of things with the dutch oven. It worked much better this time than the last time I used it. Pizza twice and an apple crisp thing both were good. I did pancakes, although the pan really was not hot enough for that. I also tried some egg beaters, and that worked out good for the first batch but then the pan wasn't hot enough after that for another batch. Jade went with us as well and was fun to have around. I drove back to Phoenix going down Hwy 60 through Globe, which I had not gone on before. It was a pretty drive with a big canyon to cross in the middle.

Heroscape Game Night

Had another fun night of heroscape at my place. We have been playing the elven rings map and scenario that I made up a few weeks ago now. I also ordered a new game online called Duel of Ages and a couple of others. I got a great deal on them from eBay... all 3 for $38 shipped. I love eBay. I still need to pack and plan the hike for this weekend.

Long Time No Journal

Its been forever since I made an entry in here. Been too lazy or busy with other stuff I guess. Things are still going good with Lea. We will be going camping this weekend to the White Mountains. Jade is coming along as well, Jesse could not as he was busy. I've been hosting weekly Thursday game nights at my place for awhile now. We've been playing Heroscape with people from work and some guys I met off of the heroscapers.com forums. Its been a pretty fun time overall. I don't even know where to begin on everything that I should have been writing in here over the past 6 months or however long its been. I need to get out hiking more with summer here. I really want to go up to Denver or some other area to do some hiking, Arizona is getting a little old to me, although I think the white mountain area has a lot to offer still. Oh I did go through a phase for a month or 2 of making custom terrain for gaming. That was pretty fun to do all the painting and building for that, but I haven't done that in over a month now.
